Acropolis and Philopappos Hill Sunset Walking Tour

Meet your licensed guide and walk the south slope of the Acropolis , where lies the theater of Dionysos, first built in the 5th century B.C. Next, walk by the Sanctuary of Asklepios, the famous god of medicine, and get to the renowned Odeon of Herodes, where concerts are still held today. Before you pass the Propylaea, the magnificent gate of the Acropolis, admire the graceful temple of Athena Nike and take a look at Mars’ Hill, where St. Paul preached the Word of God. At the top of the Acropolis you will be astounded by the remarkable beauty of the two marble temples: the Parthenon, an icon of the western civilization, and the Erechtheion, a building of exquisite elegance and famous for its six female statues. Subsequently, descend the Acropolis and start walking up the beautifully decorated pathways to the top of Philopappus Hill (Hill of Muses). The funerary monument of Philopappus dominates the top of the hill. Take in the magnificent scenery, enjoy the breathtaking view of the Acropolis as the sun sinks in the western sky and take amazing photos. On the way down take a look at the so-called Socrates’ prison. The tour concludes in the Acropolis area.
